Going Short to Show Support
On the 9th June 2023 I will cropping my coiffure to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, as well as mental health and young suicide charities in our farming communities. My lopped locks will then be donated to the Little Princess Trust.
Why am I doing this?
Originally, I had two reasons for this undertaking, but now I have three.
1. I have many friends who have been supported through their cancer journey by Macmillan. Some are thankfully still with us, while others have unfortunately passed after fighting the good fight. Your donations will support people through this challenging experience.
2. A friend’s son died by suicide, and I wanted to raise funds and awareness for young suicide and mental health issues within our farming communities. Please go to the Len Eadon tribute page (
https://leneadon.muchloved.com/)
for more information on this story and the charities that will benefit from your donations.
3. Two days after registering for Brave the Shave, my mum was given the shocking diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. There were no symptoms and it was only by chance that it was found, and so my family are now experiencing first-hand the challenges faced by many before.
Help me raise money for these amazing causes!
I have had shoulder length or longer hair for most of my adult life and many people who know me will never have seen me with short hair. Initially I will donate my long lengths to make wigs for young children with cancer. After this it will be cut and styled very, very, very short – a massive change for me!
Please support me in this challenge and donate your spare change as every pound given will support people through difficult phases of their lives.
PAPYRUS is the national Charity for the Prevention of Young Suicide.
Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK, in 2018 over 1800 young people took their own lives. PAPYRUS provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through their helpline, HOPELINEUK.
Every £5 raised can help pay for a life-saving contact to HOPELINEUK. Your donations really are lifesaving, thank you.
